BASIC COURSE Ceramics Thursdays (3 times) start 17/9 18:00-21:00

Create your own unique pieces in my new ceramics studio in Gothenburg, Mölnlycke! Over the course of 9 creative hours, you’ll learn the entire process—from kneading clay to glazing your own creations. You’ll learn the basics of wheel-throwing, rolling, shaping, and glazing. The session begins with demonstrations and continues with hands-on creation under Cattis’s guidance. We’ll take turns, and you’ll have access to your own potter’s wheel for at least half the time. We provide templates and molds that give your pieces their basic shape—making it easy even for beginners to create cups and bowls in various sizes. Be sure to wear comfortable, durable clothing and shoes. Aprons and slippers are available to borrow. We’ll provide coffee and tea! TECHNIQUES: Throwing, coiling, rolling, and glazing NUMBER OF SPOTS: 6 participants (3 pottery wheels) NUMBER OF HOURS: 3 hours per session, 9 hours total LOCATION: Former Keramikstudio, Höjdvägen 4, Mölnlycke ADDITIONAL COST: 130 SEK/kg (we’ll weigh your finished, glazed pieces) You’ll likely create 5–7 pieces weighing a total of 2–3 kg—some large, some small. First session: Introduction and demonstration of the basics of wheel-throwing and slab building. We’ll be throwing and rolling. Second session: You’ll learn how to finish the leather-dry pieces you’ve thrown. We’ll remove excess clay, make a foot ring, attach handles, carve patterns, and sign the pieces. We’ll continue rolling and throwing. (Today’s thrown pieces will have to do without glazing) Third session: Time to glaze your bisque-fired pieces. There are many glazes to choose from! A few weeks later, you can pick up your beautiful glazed creations!
