RAPID, accelerating additive

Art No: 1005-4 Is it important for you to remove the mould quickly? Do you or your group need to both cast and unmould on the same day? Or no later than the next morning... It's EXTREMELY URGENT at trade fairs when my visitors try out casting free of charge on my stand! But after only 1.5 hours they can remove the mould – and take the object home with them. Then I use Bemix Standard – a more expensive concrete quality which I mix with 25 ml of RAPID per kilo. We must be able to remove the moulds NEXT MORNING on my weekend courses, and that applies to large worktops too! Then we use cheaper fine concrete and add 7 ml of RAPID per kilo. RAPID reduces drying time by 24 hours. How quickly you can remove the mould primarily depends on the concrete you are using. More expensive qualities have a higher cement content – it dries more quickly and also tolerates a larger dose of RAPID. I've created a quick reference guide based on my own experience. See image on the left. The drying time is also affected by the size of the object, the temperature and air humidity. The tests in the quick reference guide were carried out on smaller moulds of 1 kg, indoors at an air temperature of 20°C. Adding too much makes the concrete brittle, and the side exposed to the air can become yellowish. Rapid has no warning texts or dangerous content.
