Concrete with macro fibres is easy to mix by adding 48 mm long macro fibers into the concrete quality you have chosen. Synthetic fibres are a modern alternative to traditional construction reinforcement in the concrete industry, but they are not sold in ordinary DIY shops.
1. Reinforce concrete tabletops. Macro fibres improve countertop bend strength and prevent both small and large-scale cracking that often occur at some point during the lifetime of the countertop.. Fibre concrete completely replaces reinforcement in smaller tabletops of about 60 x 60 cm, while large countertops still require additional reinforcement with rebar.
2. Increase impact resistance. The fibres provide concrete with superior resistance to impacts and crushing.
First, add a thin layer of concrete without fibres; just a few millimetres in the mould. Pat, rub and vibrate away all air bubbles with your hand. Wear thin gloves. This will eliminate the risk of visible air bubbles or fibres. Mix macro fibres into the remaining concrete and fill the mould.
